Gryla is the matriarch of Icelandic demons. She is the mother of the 13 Yule Lads and owner of the Yule Cat! Every year during Yule, she comes down from her mountain lair in search of the naughty children in nearby towns. She will kidnap or buy them, searching only for the naughtiest ones because they taste the best. She takes them home and puts them in a stew that she eats until the following Yule.
